The mainstay of our fleet are 350cc Enfields as the maximum allowed in Sri Lanka is 400cc. The Enfield is an icon in the motorcycling world, recognised the world over. These bikes are manufactured in India and retain the classic styling that makes them so unique. Our bikes are all Enfield Twin Spark Classic models that deliver that wonderful thump from the exhaust. They provide the necessary torque to pull you up the mountain roads, are comfortable on long drives, and have a very respectable fuel efficiency.
A Brief History of the Enfield
Royal Enfield was the name under which the Enfield Cycle Company (founded 1893) made motorcycles. The legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo a cannon, and their motto “Made Like A Gun”. Their first motorcycle was built in 1901. In 1955, the Enfield Cycle Company partnered with Madras Motors in India to form Enfield of India, based in Chennai, and started assembling the 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle in Madras. Starting in 1957, Enfield of India acquired the machines necessary to build components in-house, and by 1962, all components were made in India. The original Redditch, Worcestershire based company dissolved in 1971, but Enfield of India continued, and bought the rights to use the Royal Enfield name.
In 2017, the 100 millionth Super Cub was produced at Honda's Kumamoto Assembly Plant which commemorated the 60th year of its nameplate since 1958.
